Description
Amelia County, Virginia, erected in 1735 from Prince George and Brunswick counties, is itself the parent of Prince Edward and Nottoway counties. This volume, comprising marriage bonds and ministers returns and consents, contains listings of some 1,500 marriages and references to approximately 3,000 associated individuals (parents, sureties, and witnesses). The marriages are arranged in alphabetical order by the surname of the groom and give the date of the bond (and, when available, the date of the marriage), the name of the bride, the names of parents, sureties and witnesses, the name of the officiating minister, and a reference to the source of the information. With separate indexes to brides and to other persons mentioned in the text.
