Description

Do you like public speaking? Do you like learning about countries, cultures, and the issues facing our world? Do you like meeting interesting people? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Model United Nations is for you Pick up this book and start reading. Seriously, stop skimming the synopsis and dive right into the good stuff. Model United Nations is one of my favorite activities for a myriad of reasons, but I will not bore you by listing all the aspects I love about Model UN, I will just highlight my top four. First of all, attending a conference is a great way to meet people just like you, meaning it is a great way to make new friends Secondly, participating in Model UN will build your public speaking skills, which are especially important to develop as you move into high school and college. Third of all, learning about current events makes you an engaged American citizen, and also means you can show off your knowledge to parents, friends, teachers, and the like. Finally, practicing parliamentary procedure and learning about decorum will provide insight into the workings of the United Nations, the world's most important agency for keeping peace. Hopefully, after you read this book, you will feel comfortable enough to participate in a conference. I hope this will be an informative and enjoyable read, and that after learning about Model UN, you will love this awesome activity as much as I do
