About the Author
Joan Seymour grew up in British Guiana during the last years of its colonial status. Sh studied at the University College of the West Indies, Jamaica and later at the Sorbonne, France. She returned to the country just prior to Guyana's independence in 1966 and was selected
for its Foreign Service. She served in the capitals of London, Ottawa and Caracas and with the Guyana Delegation to the United Nations General Assembly. She subsequently enjoyed a career at the United Nations Secretariat in New York in the area of political analysis.
