About the Author
Gordon Shepherd is professor emeritus at the University of Central Arkansas. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Utah and his master's degree and PhD in sociology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. With his brother Gary, he has co-authored a variety of academic books published by the University of Utah Press, University of Illinois Press, Penn State University Press, Palgrave Macmillan, and Greg Kofford Books. In retirement, he has turned from teaching and academic publishing to memoir and historical fiction. He is the co-author of, Growing Up in the City of the Saints: Glimpses of America in Salt Lake City During the 1950s and 60s.Gary Shepherd is the former department chair of sociology and anthropology and professor emeritus at Oakland University. He obtained his undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Utah and his PhD in sociology from Michigan State University. With his brother Gordon, he has co-authored a variety of scholarly books published by the University of Utah Press, University of Illinois Press, Penn State University Press, Palgrave Macmillan, and Greg Kofford Books.
