Description
Arthur Machen's classic tale of Lucian Taylor, a young man growing up in rural Wales. Frequently visiting an old Roman fort on a hill, Taylor is met with unusual visions of ancient Roman Britain. Eventually, Taylor moves to London, where he strives for a career as a writer and suffers in the poverty known to struggling to artists. Originally published in 1907, "The Hill of Dreams" did not receive great notoriety until the so-called "Machen Boom" of the 1920s. Arthur Machen was the pen name of Welsh author Arthur Llewellyn Jones.
