Description

The Yarn Animal Book Series is based on the original hardbound book published in 1976 by Simon and Schuster. About the Author
HOW A KID GREW UP TO WRITE THE YARN ANIMAL BOOK. When I was 7 my Uncle Roger taught me 2 of the most important lessons I have learned in my life: how to eat a whole lobster with my bare hands and how to make a balloon animal. When I was 9 my 91-year-old great grandmother taught me how to make yarn pompoms. She called them 'pompons' and when she was a kid they often tied pompons onto the toes of their ice skates. I broke my leg skiing when I was 15 and spent a week in a hospital in Vermont. That was when I figured out how to make my first yarn animal, a pompom poodle. It's like a balloon animal made out of yarn pompoms! The nurses in the hospital said squeezing my pompoms would be great exercise for people with hand injuries so I made lots of them for other people in the hospital. Simon & Schuster loved my yarn animals so they asked me to write a book about them when I was 30. It was very popular and was even a Book of the Month Club -Primary Selection. Based on many years of requests I re-published THE YARN ANIMAL BOOK, in digital format which is most likely how you are viewing it now. I still have hard copies of the original book which are also available at my website.
